Not really... definitive

Watching this was a huge eyesore, the drawings were, mostly, a Livetrace tweened around, which does nothing but make the viewer think that little to no effort was put into this, when I think it's the other way round. The tweens made me really uncomfortable, and made the whole movie overall extremelly cheap.

The lip sync was horrible too, the mouth just moved to fit the vowels and noticeable pronunciations with no in betweens, and the characters barely enven moved at all. Even when they did, I wish they hadn't, because the whole movement was an ungraceful motion tween, even in some parts, I was wondering how the hell you could even make some things with a motion tween, specially the horse walking, sorry, but that looked terrible, and I must admit, I had never thought the was even a way to do that kind of thing with tweens, when it should've done with frame by frame.

This movie is seriously at the edge of being an animatic, please try to give more movement to the characters, which is only achieved by drawing a frame and then the other, even if that compromises the graphical quality, which is one of the few rescuable things in this flash, but still far from being perfect, REALLY far. Good luck with any future projects, I hope you keep this in mind.

doctormario responds:

Fair enough.

Urgh...

I would really want to point out that, if you're aiming for this style of flash, you really have to focus on the animation a lot, to make up for the plot, or the lack of one but on this flash, I was expecting something interesting to happen, but it turned out to be a mediocre animation with a lineal and straight foward idea.

The movement of the characters was just the body parts for the characters tweened around to simulate what should've been done with a little bit of effort, but did nothing but a horrible, horrible attempt of making it slip by. I really recommend you leave sticks and bitmap tracing behind, since it does nothing but reduce the quality of the movie. Probably the worst part of the animation is how you tried to do first person view and just transformed the gun to try to make it look like it was really in front of the character, please don't do that, the gun really got flattened out and looked beyond terrible.

You shouldn't use the voices from the game, instead, getting a couple of voice actors seems like the best idea, since the dialogue was unrealistic at best:
-How you're doing
-I don't even know
-Awesome
-I owe you a big one
-Hey, no problem.

In the game, all the different options are scripted, so if Player 1 uses a dialogue option from the "Thanks" selection, Player 2 will respond with an option from "You're welcome", but they're all randomized and aren't something somebody pays attention to, but here, the whole ending, which is supposed to be the most memorable part of the flash, revolved around a badly written sentence.

Good luck with improving your flash... I guess.

StealthBeast responds:

Yeah, I guess the motion mechanics of the characters are rough around the edges if you pause, zoom in 5x, and right-click forward for an hour... Otherwise, they're fine and I disagree with your negativity concerning their fluidity.

Admittingly, the first person guns were only ever intended to be placeholders. In the rush to complete the project for its deadline, I ended up having to keep them as the finished product. Later however, when I had time to work on it at home, I didn't bother upping them (I was kind of attached to them). So yeah, I guess that's a lazy mistake on my part. Very minute... especially considering the simple art style.

Your voice actor's recommendation tells me you've never actually ever worked with voice actors lol... It's not some cutsy little process to be done in a spare afternoon... The difficulty in finding them, the interviews, the problems, the breaks in contact, the time zone differences, the technicalities, the credit distribution, and the delays... it's the biggest flippin' hassle ever. If I were to do that, I would do it for a long animation (4+ minutes), or a series... Not for the last 3 seconds of a short tribute.

Perhaps if you had some distinct experience in flash, I could take your attempt at a depthy criticism more seriously... But judging by your flash, you are, "Okay" at best, and cocky as it may sound, not in my league, therefore I can only take what you say with a grain of salt.

Listen to your reviewer "HolyKonni" on your flash, Paper flow. Don't work at a framerate you can't handle.

Beautiful.

This movie is great, from the very icon itself, I knew this would be, and luckly, I was right. Aestethically, it had it's flaws, but the bright colors and the texture applied to the whole movie made me totally not care. At times, I didn't quite like how there was just a movieclip with a walking cycle tweened from onw side to the other of the screen to buid up some time, or how, to give a more concrete example, how his hand, clearing the sweat that could be animated easily, were replaced by a tween. Else than that, there was some great animation and your art style is just beautiful.
The way the lip sync was a movie clip of the mouth opening and closing was actually enjoyable, as it helped build up the whole Storybook style that the voice actor kept and used perfectly.

Great work, I really expect to see more episodes of this!

Rutger responds:

The hand couldn't be animated that easily, since it was like 50 frames, which is quite a lot fbf.
But I must admit, I'm a pretty lazy person.

Oh Fluff...

Ocean's part really killed me, best shit ever.

fluffkomix responds:

isn't he the greatest?

jaja

No se que es más gracioso, el screencap o la reseña de dante.

We are never happy.

Allow me to give you 10 stars.

Allowed, zyph!

A bit dissapointing

To be honest, the first part was the only one that I could enjoy, the rest of them seemed like they had little to no effort into them, maybe except for Kibbl3's, sleeeeeep's and RedHarverst's part, but besides from that, most parts were REALLY bad, mediocre graphics or/and bad animation.
None of them really made me laugh, of course refering to the ones that were supposed to be a joke, because they were just an old joke or some unfunny pun. The ones that were not supposed to be funny should've been focused on animation, but the had the same problem, they were terribly animated, except for makeshift's part, that one had awesome animation and swell illustrations. In short? It's like searching for a gold ring in a garbage can.

Makeshift responds:

Thanks for the review. Everyone has opinions :)

Quiiiiite orgasmic.

Dang, this is some of the best voice impresionation I've heard in a long while. I like how you made the whole characters with a more detailed program and then did the lip sync with flash. Totally honest though, it doesn't really seem like a whole movie or a time consuming project, but more like a one week or less work, but it was entertaining nonetheless, and I would love to see more movies here on Newgrounds that are mostly done in Photoshop or Painter or whatever this was done. Good work, Diggedy.

HotDiggedyDemon responds:

1 week? more like 1 hour, lawl

You know what's fun?

Right click > Play > Foward to see the frames one by one. It's a really sweet work, and I like how the momentum lines create the complement the lack of inbetweens that "Get Down" videos are known for. What I do recommend you do is that you up a bit more the smoothing and use the brush tool, the squigly lines looks nice on rough sketches, but when it comes to a complete drawing, it's a huge eyesore.

You're wrong.

Pokemanstar or however he's called is probably WAAAAY fatter.

MrAbnormal responds:

Yeah I know I did that but PokemanMaster hired 50 gay prostitute lawyers and made me change it

I am the son and heir of a shyness that is criminally vulgar.
